It has been THAT long since I graduated from High School. I know you all thought I was younger ;) But it's the truth... and last night was our 10 year High School reunion. Over the past few months I have been helping plan the event and I was pretty sure it was going to be fun. Then as it got closer to the date, I started questioning if I should go or not. Although I loved my high school years, I didn't know if I was ready to revisit the past. In the end, though, I decided I shouldn't miss out on this once in a lifetime event. And I will say I am SO GLAD I went.
As part of my responsibilty as a committee member, I was in charge of taking the pictures. I must admit I wasn't really looking forward to it. It wasn't the usual atmosphere I was used to, and in the end I was not happy with what I ended up with. Thank goodness there were TONS of other people there with their cameras taking pictures! I'm sad to say though that I got NO pictures of me with my friends and that kind of makes me sad when I look back at it. I got so busy talking to people that I just wasn't my usual picture taking self!! What can I do now? It's almost embarrassing to share the pictures because I feel like it doesn't show any talent whatsoever. But for memory's sake, here are a few that I did take.
The room- I thought the decorations were great- simple but fun. Each table had some cards with little factoids or pictures about the 90s. Fun!
One of my best friends from High School, Stephanie, with her boyfriend Dave. So good to see her- we even went shopping together to get some last minute outfits for the reunion. Fun!
Another good friend from high school, Casey, with his sweet girlfriend. So happy for him! I honestly felt like I'd been friends with her forever. She was THAT sweet.
Um, yeah. Those are seriously the only pictures I want to share. And they're not even all that great! That's what you get when you stick a natural light photographer into a room with BARELY ANY light at all.
Ok... one more. Tables with people actually there and the DJ playing lots of awesome 90s music!
The good thing about all of this was reconnecting with people I have not talked to in ages. It felt great. It was good to hear that people I once shared a life with were making good decisions in their lives and doing great things. I love that.
It was so nice having Adam by my side the whole time. I know he wasn't too excited about going, but he didn't complain and actually had a bit of fun himself! He's such a supportive sweet husband!! I was excited for everyone to meet him. We sat at a table with some of my closest friends from high school which was close to the projection screen where they had a slideshow playing of old high school photos etc. We laughed at the silly silly pictures of ourselves (and our friends) and had a great time.
My parents were so wonderful for taking on the Noe children. I know that Joselyn especially loves the time with them. My mom takes her outside to play and my dad reads her an endless stack of books before bed time. I love them so much for loving my children and watching them while Adam and I enjoyed some much needed time alone together. My dad got some great pics of the kids which is more than I can say for myself as their mother.
