Just a quick note- Landen took his first steps last night!!

Quality Time with Dada

Pushing, pointing and BABY (first word!)

Joselyn loves pushing around on whatever she can get her hands on... a book, a toy piano, or a piece of mail. She uses them to make getting  around easier and it's pretty cute. In this video, she is pushing around on an envelope full of baby coupons that we got in the mail. There is a picture of a baby on the front of it and let me tell you... babies are Joselyn's favorite pictures to look at right now. (Maybe she knows there is one inside of mommy's belly?) She has very recently started pointing at pictures of them when you ask where the baby is... and I am NOT kidding... she has started pointing at them and saying a really high-pitched "bee-bee". Melts my heart.

Daddy Daughter Date

Yesterday was a fun but tough day... I left Joselyn for the longest time I have ever left her and I sure did miss her! I had my first 'real' photography job yesterday (yay!) and drove to Louisville for the occasion. I left Jos with my mother-in-law for the day and Adam picked her up after work. Adam met some of his co-workers for a Lexington Legends game that night and decided to take Joselyn along. How fun!! I think she was really wiped out after about an hour (she certainly looks tired in this picture!) Adam brought her home and I was able to get some cuddling in with Jos before she went to bed. I admire all the working moms out there because it's not easy leaving your baby for a full day!!! I know it's hard for Adam too, so I'm glad they could spend an evening together!

As for the photography... I had SO MUCH FUN. Tim and Lisa were so photogenic and fun to photograph... not to mention SO IN LOVE! Aww!  Here are a few sneak-peeks of some of the pictures I took for their wedding. I was so excited I was up ALL night proofing! (not even close to 1/4 finished)



It was seriously SO MUCH FUN. I do some more shots around Lexington today and then photograph their reception tonight. My little Hoarse baby

These past few days Joselyn has been suffering with SOMEthing. First  it was a runny nose, then a low-grade fever. We gave her some Children's Benedryl just at night so she could actually sleep (and mom could actually sleep, too) and slowly her voice disappeared. It is just now starting to come back, but I had to chronicle the cuteness of her hoarse voice. I'm thinking she might finally be getting her first tooth? Who knows. She's been extra clingy, whiny and extra tired as well. I'm just glad she is starting to get better. Another thing I love about this video is it captures Joselyn cuddling her blanket. I LOVE it.


Also a video of her playing with a favorite toy of hers lately. Thanks Chelsea (and Autumn) for the wonderful hand-me-down! She LOVES this toy and has finally figured out how to get the balls in the holes after much practice. It's kind of a long video so you might get a little bored, but I had to post it for memory's sake. You can hear her little hoarse grunts too... since she can't talk she had to make some sort of noise. Just one more video I promise... this one of Jos playing with another Autumn hand-me-down. The Hippo walker that eats little blocks as you push it. Today was the first day she was actually brave enough to use this toy.

There is nothing I could have done to stop a loving father from feeding his little girl half of his Oreo to cheer her up after a rough day... he just really felt bad for all she had to go through today. And I admit I loved seeing him smile and laugh as he watched his little daughter enjoy the sweet treat. Watching her eat it wasn't too bad either. Besides... a little bit of Oreo every once in a while isn't all THAT bad.


Then it was off to the play area at the Mall for some good 'ole family fun. This was Adam's first time there with Jos. We both loved watching her climb all over everything and watch the kids as they ran past her. Even sweeter were all the kids coming up to Joselyn to say hi and make her smile. She discovered that going through the bottle or under the blocks wasn't that scary after all when daddy was waiting on the other side.

Today was Joselyn's 9 month check-up. I thought I would be ok since I've lived through these the past few months but today was terrible. She only got one shot but she was more aware of what was going on and they also pricked her finger to draw some blood. They had to squeeze her teeny finger for about 5 minutes to get the amount of blood they needed and she just cried her "my feelings are hurt" cry the whole time. It really broke my heart and I had to try really hard to hold back my own tears. When all was over, I just held her in my arms for a good 10 minutes and let her cuddle up against me. She was so tired anyway, it was a really sweet moment and I was so glad she wasn't mad at ME. The nurses gave her a little rattle to try and cheer her up but she wouldn't even look at it until all the doctors and nurses were out of sight. But as soon as we were in the Jeep all she wanted to do was play with that thing... and she gave me a sweet smile that let me know she was ok. Here she is with her rattle at home.

Good News is that Joselyn is doing great! She is right on track growth wise and the Dr. said she is doing a lot of things that a 12 month old does... such as pushing him away when he tried to get close! ha ha ha... He pretty much warned me I needed to watch out for her because she is going to be doing a lot of unexpected things for her age.  I didn't know whether or not I should take that as good news or bad news!  She is already resisting baby food and even formula. It's been really tough to get her to drink a bottle sometimes but the Dr. said not to worry as long as she is having enough wet diapers which believe me, she SOAKS them. I guess I will count that as a blessing because it would be nice for her to be able to take care of herself somewhat when little boy comes around. But at the same time it's a little sad that my baby is growing up so fast. The Dr.called her "wiry". Tall and skinny... and muscular. Adam and I think she is getting a little on the chubby side, but apparently not. Either way, we like her little baby fat... or 'muscle' as the Dr. called it. (How can those little leg rolls be considered muscle? Oh well...) Here are the stats:

Weight: 17lbs 6oz / 20th percentile
Height: 27 1/2 inches / 40th percentile
Head: 44 1/2 cm / 53rd percentile

Despite her rough day, she did so well and I was so proud of her. We think babies have it easy but they really don't... they have to deal with a lot!

The Pringles Incident

As I was checking my e-mail this morning, Joselyn was playing quietly near me with a carton of Jalapeño Pringles that Adam had left out, shaking it and examining it. I thought nothing of it because the lid was on there tightly. But when I looked up from the computer to check on her she was covered from head to toe in Pringles munching on them. I panicked a little because I was afraid she would choke on one but couldn't help but laugh as I gathered all of them up off of the floor. I yelled for Adam to come down and take a look too and he got to see her all covered in his Pringles as well. She wasn't too happy about me taking the chips away... this little food lover loved the Jalapeño Pringles...and cried as I grabbed chips from her little hands. It broke my heart but what is a mother to do? We've already had a near-choking experience with Doritos. Our clever little girl figured out that Pringles canister and it was so dang funny. In my haste I didn't take a picture of her covered in them... but I did get a little of the aftermath before I vacuumed all the small pieces up. Joselyn sure does keep us laughing... and on our toes.

Comprehension

I better watch what I say from now on... Adam and I realized today that Joselyn understands quite a bit of what we're saying. After Joselyn's bath today we were looking in the mirror and I said "Blow kisses!" I didn't do any motions or anything and she started blowing kisses! IT kinda shocked me and so when Adam got home we 'tested' her. We were so surprised she knew what "cell phone" was and "pacifier" and other things. When we hold our hand out and say "Can I have it please?" She hands it right over... when I say "Come Here" most of the time she comes. It amazes me. The thing is I almost think babies know what we're saying long before we realize they do... they just can't show their comprehension. Makes you think twice before you say some things...

3 hour nap

Joselyn has now been asleep for almost 3 hours so I am a little bored. Yes, she is breathing... I just checked on her. I was wondering that myself. There are tons of things I COULD do but I am giving myself a break because the past 5 days or so have been non-stop. Of course I'm going to blog during my free time! Here are some of the things Jos and I have been up to:

Joselyn was the official page turner for my mom on the piano but helped play a few of the hard parts.

Then we checked out the Sunflower that was growing in my moms garden! 

We spent a Monday afternoon enjoying the beautiful weather outside (these pictures were taken by my very talented little niece Melanie... an aspiring photographer)

On Tuesday, After spending our morning in the Dr's office and the afternoon working on some pies,  we celebrated Adam's beautiful sister Nora's birthday and Joselyn enjoyed her new little eating chair. Melanie kindly kept her company for a little bit.

Today we once again sold pies at the Lexmark farmers market. We did not do as well this time around and we couldn't figure out why because the weather was absolutely beautiful (it was raining last time when we sold out) but no one sold much today and the crowds were sparse.

Well, Joselyn is awake so I better go get her! (what a nice 3 hour nap!!)
