Playing with a friend ALL DAY!

One of my friends needed an emergency babysitter today (and tomorrow) and of course I was very happy to take care of Anna! I was a little worried because Anna hasn't seen me in quite some time and didn't know me but WOW was she an angel!!! At nine months she played just fine by herself, never cried (until Adam walked in the door - which only lasted a few seconds until I picked her up), went down for a 3 hour nap and it was just fun! Anna is adorable and was entertainment for Joselyn. Joselyn loved watching her crawl and cruise all around the room. They actually BOTH slept at the same time for 3 hours so it was quite amazing. They must have really worn eachother out! I got a little nap in myself! Oh - and GET THIS. Anna came wearing her little elephant shirt, so I put a coordinating one on Joselyn from the same line at Gymboree. How fun is that? Who wouldn't want a buddy to wear coordinating outfits with?

Joselyn rolling over from back to tummy

Last week I had laid Joselyn on her back next to Tthe bathroom while I was straightening my hair. When I looked down to check on her, she was on her belly!! I was quite shocke because 1.She hates being on her belly and 2.I had laid her on her back... and she has never rolled over from back to tummy. I put her back on her back to see if I could see her rollover, but she didn't... until I turned away again of course. She did it AGAIN! Since then I have been trying to coax her into doing it again... with no success. I wanted to see this for myself! Yesterday I was playing with her on the floor and I put a fun toy JUST out of reach to see if she would roll over from back to tummy again. It worked! I was so excited because not only did I get to finally SEE her in action, but I got it on video!

The other day we were just hanging out on our bed when Joselyn kept on saying dada and just talking away. So I got the video camera out, and of course she stopped saying it... until the very end of this video!

Keeneland

Can you believe in all my years of living in Kentucky that I have NEVER been to Keeneland? I have been to Churchill Downs but not Keeneland. Right here in Lexington. (there is a possibility I could have went when I was 12 or so but I have no recollection of it ) It took an invitation from Kasey to finally go there. It was Joselyn's first time too! It was a perfect day for the races... a nice breeze in the Grandstand kept the temperature just right.  Joselyn stayed cheerful for a few hours and then got a little cranky so it was time to go home. But it was really fun for the both of us and I'm so glad we went.

Joselyn has had a little cold and I had given her some medicine that made her drowsy so she fell alseep on my lap a few times... and was awaken by the take off of the horses a few times too.

Poor Nev... he is SO patient with Joselyn who wanted so badly to grab his cute little face!

It was so good to have Kasey here this week and to finally meet her sweet family. We'll miss them and can't wait to see them again!

Piano

Adam's mom got Joselyn this cute little piano. It didn't take her very long to figure it out and now it's her favorite toy! She will sit and bang on those keys for a LOOOONG time. There was never a doubt in our minds that Joselyn would be musical.

First time swimming

On Wednesday we met up with Kasey and fam once again to play at the park and then go swimming. This was Joselyn's first time time swimming and she had a BLAST! She is definitely a natural swimmer. Nev let her borrow his floatie too, which she ALSO loved!

Dada Mama baba

I think it is a fact that Joselyn likes to mimic everything mommy and daddy do. For months we have said mama and dada to her in hopes that she would miraculously copy us. The day finally came yesterday... first she said dada, but then she said mama. She is also saying baba... which she actually says the most. It's harder for her to say mama and dada, but she DOES say them! Although I don't have proof (because Joselyn is really camera shy sometimes when it comes to showing off her skills) there are witnesses... Adam, for one, my mom and my sister Chelsea. They have all been blessed to hear her say those words.  Sooner or later I'm sure she will say them on camera. (actually, I have her saying baba but it's not as fun as mama and dada so I'm not gonna post it) When Adam came home yesterday, one of the first thing that Joselyn said to him was dada. Of course I'm sure she has no idea what she is saying, but it just MELTED Adam's heart. And I had to admit to Adam that she said dada first. (dang it)

Nev and Jos

One of my best friends Kasey came into town over the weekend and brought with her her cute little family! Jos and I were so excited to see them! Today we met up and took lots of pictures and went for a walk downtown. Joselyn was very intrigued with Nev, who is a little less than 2 months older than her. Although they have met before, this time was very different. Both Jos and Nev are now more aware of what was going on and so they grabbed each other's faces and hands and wanted to play with eachother. It was quite sweet. We LOVE little Neville. What a cutie he is... and so is his family :) 

Guitar Session

One of the reasons I am in love with Adam is that he plays the guitar. I always wanted to marry a man who could carry a tune and play the guitar. I envisioned moments where our little family would gather around in the living room and listen to him play and sing. We would sing along to some of the songs too. Although Adam tends to be very shy about sharing this talent with others (sometimes even me!) I LOVE LOVE LOVE when he gets his guitar out. I can't say anything to him about his playing, even good, or he may stop, so I just listen and enjoy. Sometimes he creates a new riff and starts making up songs. He once wrote one in a night when I was pregnant with Joselyn after we found out we were having a girl. The lyrics to that song  "little girl is gonna change us forever this time" always makes me smile. We got to enjoy a sweet moment the other night when he brought down his guitar and started strumming his guitar. I was on the floor playing with Joselyn just enjoying the moment. I got up for a second to do something and when I got back I saw Adam laying down on the floor next to Joselyn playing her songs. It's one of those moments I want to remember forever... so I grabbed the camera and took some pictures before either of them could realize what I was doing. When Joselyn saw me, she gave me the biggest smile. This is what having a family is all about!

Fish Lips

My little Joselyn just CRACKS ME UP!!! After a fun dinner at Ghatti Town with my mom, Chelsea and Autumn, I brought Joselyn home in a hurry because it was a little past her bedtime. She gets a little cranky if I don't get her to bed on time and she is very used to her routine every night so I was a little worried she was going to have a fit as I got her ready for bed. To keep her happy, I was making funny faces as I changed her diaper and put her in her Pjs. One face I kept making was fish lips. Imagine my surprise when she puckered her lips as best as she could and tried to move her mouth - just like me! I about died! It's was just the cutest thing ever... I'm SOOO hoping she'll do it again for me tomorrow so I can catch it on camera/video!
